With the high demand for charcoal in Indonesia, especially for raw materials for activated carbon and steel coke, our research and development team started a palm kernel shell charcoal project with raw materials that are easy to find in Indonesia and with large capacity, expected to be a long-term solution to replace other charcoal products that are limited in Indonesia. This new breakthrough was very well received by our customers, especially for the steel smelting industry and activated carbon, and began exporting the product to Korea in mid-2017. Palm Kernel Shell Charcoal products are also used by the activated carbon industry as a solution to the increasingly limited and high competition for coconut charcoal raw materials, although the iodine content contained in palm kernel shell charcoal is lower than coconut shells, but it is an opportunity to sell cheap activated carbon products supported by large and sustainable quantities. In January 2017, in addition to routinely exporting palm bunch ash and palm kernel shell charcoal, PT. Sanjaya Multi Artha also exports various agribusiness products such as Fresh Noni Fruit to South Korea, with a quantity of 40 tons per week and running for 11 months and has shipped 1,760 MT during the year.
In 2018, in addition to exporting palm bunch ash to Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Taiwan, PT. Sanjaya Multi Artha also exported noni fruit products in liquid or juice form using IBC tanks to South Korea with a quantity of 2 containers or 40 tons per month and 440 tons for a year. With a palm bunch ash capacity of 5,000 tons per year, and palm kernel shell charcoal reaching sales of 4,200 tons per year. In 2017 and 2018, noni fruit products from Indonesia were in great demand in Korea and Japan as health, beauty and cosmetic supplement products.
